  1. Ed

I have the 2025 Stryker Pro 420 with a 2025 Yamaha F-25 power trim outboard. I’ve ran it for about 35 hours now and this is what I like and don’t like about the boat.
I love some of the accessories and how thought out the storage is. The Stryker shield is amazing. I did some night boating and when I was heading back into camp I accidentally got hung up on a dead head that had a fairly sharp protrusion. I was stuck on it for about a minute until I was able to move my passengers to the rear of the boat and I was able to reverse off of it. The next day I pulled the boat out of the water to inspect the hull expecting to see a large gouge but there wasn’t even a scuff in the Stryker Shield. I was super impressed with the durability and would highly recommend if you’re looking at a Stryker boat to get the pro for the full hull protection.
My issues with the boat are mostly handling and performance related.
The first problem I had was not Stryker’s fault. But when I bought the boat the dealer had mounted the motor with the cavitation plate just above level with the bottom of the hull. So the first time I took it out I was having major issues with prop ventilation when trying to get on plane and whenever hit any kind of mild chop. When I got the boat back home I lowered the outboard one set of holes and now the bottom of cavitation plate is exactly 1/2” below the hull. Yamaha recommends that the cavitation plate should be between level of the bottom of the hull to within 1” below and I’m right in the middle, so I should be good right?
After lowering the motor the issue of prop ventilation when getting on plane has mostly gone away. But I’m still having prop ventilation issues as soon as the water gets a little choppy and especially if I’m heading into the wind. I’m constantly having to get my passengers to shift their weight around to keep the bow down because the moment it rises just a little the prop is loosing grip on the water causing me to loose propulsion and fall off plane. This has been a constant battle when driving the boat in somewhat choppy conditions. If the water is smooth as glass it preforms great. At times without any wind on calm water I was able to get the boat up to 43kph which I thought was pretty impressive considering it’s only a 25 hp motor.
I’m not really sure what to do at this point. I’m not able to lower the motor anymore because it’s only 1/8” before the motor is sitting on the transom and I don’t really want to oval out the mounting holes to get it down that last little bit. I think the only option left is to install a hydrofoil but I’m not too keen on drilling holes in my brand new outboard just to see if that fixes the problem.
My last complaint is with some of the noises I hear when boating on choppy water. I get a lot of loud clicking and squeaks. I haven’t been able to figure out exactly what’s going on but if I had to guess it’s coming from the joints in the floor boards and the squeak sound is definitely coming from somewhere around the transom area. Maybe where the floor buts up to the transom? But I can’t say for sure. It’s hard to pinpoint exactly where it’s coming from while I’m driving the boat.
All that said I would have left a 2.5 star review if I had the option. I don’t think it deserves a 2 star review because the boat is well built, however between having to constantly shift weight around in the boat and all the odd sounds it makes has me thinking this boat is really only good for fair weather boating.

We have used our Stryker 420 Pro for 3 seasons now as a fun boat out of squamish BC for prawning, tow foiling and hitting secluded beaches as well as for 2-3 months as our dingy we tow throughout desolation sound all summer. We have a 20 HP Mercury which provides us with enough power for everything and ease of use!! This boat has been a game changer for our boating life!! Keep up the awesome products!!

The PRO 420 is incredible. The pictures don’t do it justice.
Rock solid, bigger than you imagine it to be.
With the dual wheels, you can easily move it around.
This went way beyond my expectations.

We purchased this boat in June 2021. Shipping was fast – a week. We used it on the water 6 times and love it. Works very good with my 30 hp motor.
The only one thing I did when I got the boat was I cleaned the aluminum floor panel sharp edges with sandpaper. I didn’t want the sharp edges to damage the boat or cut myself when building it.
My bag ripped when I was folding up the boat. Contacted customer service and they send me a new bag.
    Customer service is awesome.
Yes, I would recommend the product and will buy another boat in the future.

3 years later and still happy with my boat!! The new ones look very nice and are tempting me a lot though!!!

  6. Jean Guy Duguay

Overall very satisfied with my Pro420 purchase. I would have happy to give a 5 star however as I see some room for improvements which I am sure will happen in time. I would say the inflatable boat itself is very well put together. It’s an overall good design and from the fair amount of researched done, the boat specs and design is exceptionally good. I did come across very few other vendors out there which I could compare them to specifically to this model itself but didn’t choose them for various reasons. I found that Stryker’s aftercare follow up with issues that came along the way, was definitely responsive. I felt valued as they listens and took ownership of issues that came up and the effort made to try their best in making it right was a positive one. I think this matters enough to me when it comes to their customer service follow up, I consider somewhat exemplary. The boat is well built and good investment. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others. I would expect with proper care that I can see this product being durable for some time to come and at this point in time would feel rather confident in considering them in the future. As for why I see as room for improvement, they are not real deal breakers however I think it’s worth mentioning it for others to be away. Althought I like the accompanying accessories, I can see a short life cycle with them in comparison to other products I’ve come across which are better. The primary issue I noticed is the quality of the zippers on them are not up to a standard and in the short time using them, zippers do seem to easily separate with little effort. Their choice in the fabric for the accessories are otherwise pretty good. The aluminum floor kit is really nice however, I can early see that the 2 front floor component materials will likely over time require maintenance. Even during floor install notice the movement of the screws in the aluminum slats to the primary floor which is what may eventually require maintenance. Otherwise, I still think it’s worth it’s value in the end. What did impress me and I feel is important is their customer service/support follow up which gives me absolute confidence in stryker standing behind their product.

The best customer service we have ever encountered, hands down. Our boat has taken us on many adventures already and we always have another one planned. Thank you for a stellar product!!

  8. Anthony

This has been the best boat purchase I’ve ever made. I’ve owned a lot of different boats including other brands of inflatables but Stryker has hit a home run making this beauty. It’s pretty heavy so we trailer ours. At the end up the season we pack it up into the bags in comes with and store it away until next year. I recommend these boats to anyone that asks.

  9. Paul Gravel

Great all around boat. Never had so much fun. You can really load it up with gear and still have room for 2-4 people comfortably. I would recommend at least a 20HP. Let the adventures begin.
